Concept: People who need to apply for disability benefits frequently encounter tremendous barriers in applying for disability benefits. Some of these barriers include lack of access to technology and healthcare, or feeling overwhelmed and confused about the application itself. This program will address basic information social workers and social service providers would need to know in order to help someone apply for disability benefits, including an overview of common forms that need to be completed as part of the process. Our webinar will be presented by Kate Means, BLC attorney.

Concept: Legal aid attorneys often work with clients in crisis who are experiencing poverty, substance use, addiction and/or mental health impairments. This program will explore the lawyer’s role and ethical responsibility when working with a client who may be potentially impaired and/or incapacitated. For social workers and social service providers who work with legal aid attorneys and clients in crisis, this program will provide legal information and context on issues such as confidentiality and scope of representation. Our webinar will be presented by Huy Nguyen, BLC's Executive Director.
